Wia tanzn is

Artists: Klemens Lendl (voc, vl), David Müller (voc, guit, p, harmonium), Martin Eberle (tp, flgh), Martin Ptak (tb)

Take a seat on the musical merry-go-round of “Die Strottern” and give yourself up to the velvety touch of their microcosm. A little orchestra arose that couldn’t be bigger. Die Strottern caress the listener’s ears with breathtaking brass lines, so soft and fragile, with a harmonium, piano, violin and a picking guitar, and make us playfully dance with melancholy.

Klemens Lendl and David Müller are inspired by “Wienerlied” and Austrian folk music; however, the sound of an accordion creates a disconcerting twist. Die Strottern continue to grow beyond tradition, leaving their Viennese neighbourhood behind and putting themselves into an existential game of musical chairs.

Along for the ride: Martin Eberle on the trumpet and flugelhorn, Martin Ptak on the trombone and the harmonium: an instrument that breathes magic into the familiar. You don’t need to understand the lyrics written in broad dialect in order to feel the tender stings of their music.

Both artists encounter people and their never-ending musical facets with respect as they lovingly plant their defiant humour into the heavy heart. Sometimes it becomes quiet – causing one to take a calming breath while the miracle of every day life rises on the horizon with a smile.
